ATMs better work on Eid: State Bank

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has advised all banks to make sure their ATM machines do not break down or run out of cash over the Eidul Fitr bank holiday.

An SBP directive stated that there had been no let up in the number of complaints about offline or out-of-order ATMs during Ramzan – with accounts being debited without any cash disbursement and customers’ cards retained by faulty ATMs. The SBP reminded banks that they are required to re-credit any such amount within seven working days, and provide/re-issue retained ATM/debit cards within eight working days.

Banks have also been asked to ensure round-the-clock availability of cash at all ATMs countrywide. staff report
